Shh! I have a secret (Pinterest wedding board)…

I love these letterpress invitations by Peacock Press in Baltimore (and the owner is wicked cool!).

Well, I guess the secret’s out of the bag now. No, I’m not engaged. Yes, I’m just a little bit crazy … but you already knew that, right? And I have an insatiable appetite for all things wedding-related (and cupcakes, of course, who can forget the cupcakes?!).

I have a standing date with my sofa and sweatpants for “Say Yes to the Dress” mini-marathons on Friday nights and I may or may not have a few dream gowns in mind. It also doesn’t help that I write a weekly wedding column for my local newspaper–it’s both a blessing and a curse.

Week after week, I interview recently married couples who are so deep in the proverbial “honeymoon phase,” it’s not even funny. But I genuinely love weddings and, more so, I love love stories … so I enjoy hearing the lovey-dovey story about how they met, how he (or she!) proposed, what the ring and the dress look like, etc.

In conducting these interviews and contacting various wedding vendors, I’ve inevitably created a mental list of creative ideas, reliable photographers and reputable wedding planners. Since I’m not getting married anytime soon, I thought there was no way I could remember all of this until it’s my turn to be a bride.

And then … secret Pinterest boards were unveiled. While I’ve adapted to just about every other social media platform out there–Facebook, Twitter, Instagram–for some reason I could never quite get on the Pinterest bandwagon. I created a page shortly after Pinterest became popular, but I hardly (read: never) used it … that is, until I created a secret wedding board.

Yes, I know the whole point of a secret board is to keep it, well, a secret. But the fact is my boyfriend, family, friends and co-workers know I’ve been not-so-secretly planning my wedding since I was oh, about 5 years old. I’m a planner by nature and I especially love planning parties (p.s. save the date for my “29 on the 29th” ’20s-themed birthday party on Oct. 29, 2016). Did I mention I love to plan things in advance?

So, you may think I’m crazy, but I like to think of myself as being organized and prepared. Okay, and maybe just I’m a wee bit crazy. But you can’t blame a girl for (day)dreaming!

Does anyone else have a secret Pinterest board, wedding-related or otherwise?
